The background is as follows: not long after his discharge from the army in early 1960, some of the finest musicians and accompanists were assembled in Nashville’s famed Studio “B” to continue the recording career of Elvis Presley. Among them were Floyd Cramer on piano, Boots Randolph on sax, and The Jordanaires. The recording session that produced this cover of the 1954 Drifters’ hit “Such A Night” occurred before Elvis resumed a film career that would change the tenor of most of the music he would record the remainder of his career.
